What you need to know about Mini Highland Cows?
A miniature Highland cow brings the iconic shaggy look of the Scottish Highlands into a smaller, family-friendly package. Our breeding program focuses on health, size, and temperament. This way, you get the fluffy cow you love in a smaller, more sustainable size for small farms and homesteads.
What makes these mini fluffy cows special is not just its height; it is the whole lifestyle experience. I gathered the key points from our experience. This will help you start an enjoyable journey of owning miniature highlands. Learn from my mistakes and have a much better and safer experience that what scammers or poor quality breeders offer you…
They have a calm nature, striking hair, and a strong body. They also have great mothering instincts. Our program focuses on good nutrition and easy handling. This is why visitors often say our herd is relaxed and friendly.
Health and Temperament is our non-negotiable. A mini Highland cow should be gentle to halter, patient with grooming, and calm around kids and visitors. We reinforce this with daily “micro-reps”—short, positive touches that build trust from an early age
Because we’re in Central Florida, we pay close attention to heat tolerance and daily management. Fans, shade, Vitaferm Heat minerals, and rotational grazing help our mini Highland cows. These things keep their famous coats and help them stay comfortable and healthy during the summer.
We focus on predictable adult size by selecting dams and sires with consistent frames. If you are looking into mini Highland cows, ask about their height at the hip.
Also, inquire about their expected mature size. It is important to know how long the breeder has tracked these lines. This information is key to getting the “mini” you want.
Genetics matter and it involves much more than just size, color and horns:
- Conformation
- Hoofs
- Immunity System
- Calving Ease
- Udder Development
- Temperament
- Docility and Handling
- Ease of up keep
- Calf birthweight
Healthy beginnings lead to confident adults. We treat our calves with respect. We keep them updated on routine care. We also teach them basic skills.
This helps make your transition home smooth. Many of our families are first-time owners, so we make education part of the package.
Color is fun, but we never let it outrank conformation, health and temperament. We can help you find the perfect mini Highland cow for you and your family. It doesn’t matter if you like dun, red, silver, yellow, or belted markings. We will match you with one that fits your needs—whether for a pet, show, or breeding.
Feeding and care are straightforward. Good hay or pasture, fresh water, minerals, and shade are essential. Also, use fly control and groom regularly to keep that signature fringe looking great. We share our Florida-tested routines so you can copy what works.
Considering a mini Highland for a family attraction or small business venture? Their plush coats, gentle demeanor, and photogenic noses make instant superstars on tours and social media—while helping teach respectful animal handling.

We find a lot of benefits in registering the animals that are born on the farm. It provides transparency to our clients. It accounts for traceability on genetics, traits and performance. When you buy an animal from us, the registration is transferred to you as a gift from us, so you can have all their records as well as continue the practice in case you decide to breed as well. We register with IMCBR, AHCA, HHCA, MMDA as appropriate.
All our animals are on pasture 24×7, with access to shelter, shade and very refreshing sprinklers for the summer days. During dry seasons we supplement with excellent local quality hay and the minimum required high quality cattle feed to keep them on a good nutritional score. And they loooove the feed, so it is a great treat for them as well as a strategy for easy cattle management.
