Description
Gertie’s girl is a beautiful yellow Miniature Highland heifer with a petite frame, sweet presence, and a very promising start.
She has that soft yellow Highland look that so many people love, along with a smaller build that makes her a very special heifer prospect. Based on her current size, birth weight, dam, and suspected sire lines, we expect her to mature around 41–43 inches tall at 3 years old.
She was recently weaned and is now starting her deeper hands-on training program. She will need approximately one more month of training before going to her new home fully trained, friendly, and ready for continued bonding with her new family.
Size and Structure
Gertie’s girl is a Miniature Highland out of Gertie, a Red Brindle Miniature. Her suspected sire is most likely Thor, our Miniature White Highland bull. Parent verification is pending DNA testing.
Thor, her sire, is a white Highland bull measuring approximately 44–45 inches tall at 5 years old, and he is known for being extremely friendly, docile, and easy to work with, while adding tons of hair to his offspring.
With her petite size, yellow color, and Highland structure, Gertie’s girl has the potential to grow into a very beautiful, smaller-framed Highland female.
She is chondro-negative and horned.
Her Personality
Gertie’s girl is already warming up beautifully to people.
Even before beginning her full training program, she has already been coming up for treats from both me and my husband, which is a wonderful sign. That early trust and curiosity gives her a strong socialization foundation and shows great potential for becoming very approachable and friendly.
We use a low-stress approach with our babies so they can build confidence at their own pace, and Gertie’s girl is already off to a very good start.
Breeding Potential
Gertie’s girl is a beautiful heifer prospect for someone looking to add a smaller-framed yellow Highland female to their herd.
With her petite build, yellow color, chondro-negative status, and strong Highland genetics, she has a lot to offer as a future breeding female. Her expected mature height of approximately 41–43 inches makes her a very attractive option for someone wanting a true miniature to smaller-framed Highland heifer.
She could be a wonderful fit for a small breeding program, family farm, or someone wanting to add a feminine, colorful Highland female with long-term potential.
Training Timeline
Gertie’s girl was recently weaned and is now beginning her deeper hands-on training program.
Over the next month, she will continue working on trust, halter training, leading, brushing, grooming, handling, treats, and exposure to people through our low-stress training approach.
Our goal is for her to go to her new home fully trained, approachable, friendly, and ready for a smooth transition.
